The majestic cliffs and south-facing beaches of Dana Point were an attraction for sailboats during the cowhide trading era in the 1830s, due to the mission's location.
This stone used in the initial construction of the port of Dana Point in 1966 contained the time capsule that was inaugurated at the celebration of the port's 50th anniversary, held on August 29.
